Is Your NGO Meeting A Real Community Need?

From Maslow's hierarchy of needs, human action is motivated by 5 basic needs placed in a pyramidal format: Physiological needs, safety needs, belongingness needs, self esteem needs and self-actualization. The first 4 needs are collectively called deficiency needs (D-needs) and the last one is referred to as Growth or Being needs (B-needs). D-needs arise due to deprivation while B-needs arise due to desire. The motivation to fulfill D-needs grows stronger the longer they are unmet. Most successful NGOs often address D-needs. Which of these needs are you tackling?
